With its sculptural appearance, this Ringo Star luminaire is the central lighting feature in the renovated market hall in Royan, France. With a diameter of almost 14 metres, this custom-made luminaire illuminates a large area and blends naturally into the architectural structure. Lightnet is able to offer this kind of design freedom thanks to the close cooperation between lighting design, development and production under one roof. The result: maximum flexibility in the implementation of individual lighting solutions – from the initial sketch to the finished installation.
After 18 months of intensive planning and a further eight months of construction, Royan's market hall, the Marché central, shines in new splendour. NADAU Architecture was commissioned to renovate the historic building – an iconic testament to post-war modernism, designed in 1955 by Louis Simon and André Morisseau. The challenge was to carefully rethink the architectural heritage while opening it up for contemporary use. The project became a labour of love for the architectural firm. The result is a place that goes far beyond functional requirements – a public space for encounters, exchange and everyday life.
