Low-CO₂ aluminium

Aluminium can be recycled, but its production is very energy-intensive. It is therefore important to consider the use of renewable energy sources in production as well as the recycling of the material. When selecting our suppliers, we look at the use of renewable energy and take into account the emissions associated with aluminium production.

On average, 16.7 kg of CO₂ are emitted per kg of aluminium worldwide. The production of the aluminium we purchase generates an average of less than 4 kg of CO₂ per kg of aluminium. Our suppliers focus on reducing the consumption of materials, water and energy as well as minimising waste and hazardous substances. Our suppliers not only recycle their own waste resulting from the production process, but also process more than 50% of existing aluminium, including completely worn-out products, in the production of new aluminium. Here, too, the unusable residual materials or waste products are used for the production of new aluminium profiles - a flexible cycle. When selecting our upstream suppliers, another important criterion is proximity to our plants, so that transport routes are minimised as far as possible.
