Spatial structure created by light Liquid Line as a precise tool for structuring and orienting within a spatial framework

The Washington Harbour conference and office centre in Washington, D.C., is a space situated between the city and the water. The complex on the banks of the Potomac has been reimagined by the architects at sshape as a high-quality working environment that is also a pleasant place to spend time.

The interior design draws inspiration from the tranquil presence of the river. Colour, materials and spatial sequences capture its serene power and translate it into a multifaceted spatial structure. Open areas, quiet zones and communal spaces are clearly defined and seamlessly interwoven through the use of light.

Here, light becomes a subtle structural element. The recessed light lines from Liquid Line structure the ceiling surfaces and follow the architectural axes consistently and precisely. In keeping with its design brief, Liquid Line traces paths, defines spaces and enhances spatial orientation. This creates a homogeneous, visually calm general lighting scheme that makes materials and proportions clearly legible.
