Located in the heart of Berlin-Friedrichshain, in the immediate vicinity of Ostbahnhof station, the 10east office building positions itself as a contemporary workplace. Different office typologies – from spacious open-plan offices to focused combination offices – are designed as a flexible system that allows for growth and naturally accommodates change. 10east symbolises the transformation of the working world: digital processes and new ideas of autonomy are placing greater emphasis on collaboration, exchange and individual needs. What is needed is architecture that provides structure while still allowing freedom.
The foyer at 10east is the calling card of this design philosophy. Light is the main feature here, acting as a stylised, widely branching tree between people and buildings. Symmetrical lines from the Liquid Line series stage columns as abstract branches, branching out under the ceiling and revealing the vastness of the space. The nature-inspired motif is as intelligent as nature itself: organic lines meet technical efficiency. The result is a light image that emphasises structures, illuminates surfaces evenly and gives the foyer an unmistakable signature.
The cleverly designed motif of the ‘Liquid Line Tree’ has already been implemented in other projects – each time interpreted slightly differently. We are thrilled to see how the series is understood as a free design tool and is constantly being adapted by creative minds.
