Modernity in a historical guise Ringo Star creates bright highlights

Public libraries are knowledge providers and at the same time fulfil an integrative function in society. As local points of contact, they are centres of education, culture and information. The winner of the 2024 American Architecture Award lives up to these expectations: the branch of the Boston Public Library on Faneuil Street, designed by Oudens Ello Architecture. The Art Deco building from 1931 was extended as part of a comprehensive renovation. The aim was to preserve its historical character while fulfilling modern requirements for accessibility and functionality. Expressive geometric details on the floor and ceiling, stucco and marble revive the lifestyle and glamorous spirit of the Art Deco era. The light-flooded interior makes visitors feel equally at ease and at home.

We are delighted to be part of the interior design with our Ringo Star series. The circular pendant luminaires continue the design history on the ceiling and compliment the dynamic language of Art Deco. The wide diameter enables homogenous light that illuminates a wide area without competing with the outside light. This makes focused reading and working possible without having to compromise on aesthetics.
