Some offices are primarily places to work. Others are also spaces where ideas can be explored and design possibilities experienced firsthand. The premises of Lichtagentur in Bamberg belong to the latter category.
Lichtagentur has been based at its current location for four years. The space combines traditional workstations with open meeting areas and comfortable, residential-style retreats. Dark surfaces, warm materials, and carefully selected furniture create an atmosphere more reminiscent of a spacious residential design studio than a conventional office.
Lighting plays a particularly important role. With Lightnet’s Liquid Line P4, the lighting design takes inspiration from the shape of a tree. Curved lines of light branch out from a common trunk, spreading across the space like a canopy. The organic geometry creates a deliberate contrast with the linear architecture and dark built-in elements. At the same time, the expansive light sculpture organizes the different areas without physically separating them.
The Liquid Line Tree concept was first presented at Light + Building 2024. Since then, the lighting system has taken root in many places – including Lichtagentur’s premises in Bamberg, where it has become a defining element of the architecture.
Lichtagentur’s decision to work with Lightnet is rooted in a long-standing relationship. The two companies have been working together for at least 18 years. What began with a personal encounter with Lightnet employees at Light + Building has developed over the years into a close partnership and friendship.
What Lichtagentur particularly values is the collaboration on equal terms, together with the fair and personal way both companies treat one another. Values that endure beyond individual projects.
The office in Bamberg therefore demonstrates more than how lighting can be integrated into architecture. It also tells the story of a collaboration that has grown over many years.
