Using Resources Responsibly

Since its founding in 2001, the family-owned company Lightnet has been committed to humanity, social responsibility, and environmental awareness. As a company and as individuals, we are part of a larger cycle in which the actions of each of us affect others. Together, we work to take responsibility and use resources consciously. Through our daily work, we aim to have a positive impact on the lives of those around us while considering the environmental impact of our actions.

We believe that every company has a responsibility to actively contribute to addressing global challenges such as climate change and resource scarcity. The path ahead is long and demanding. Only by working together can we initiate change. We invite you to join us on this journey together for tomorrow.

Our sustainable development goals

Our sustainability strategy is based on a materiality assessment through which we identified topics that form a central focus of our business strategy. Four of the six areas are related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 17 goals were adopted in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda and address global social, economic, and environmental challenges.

Energy efficiency of products

Our energy-efficient LED lighting solutions are related to SDG 7. Their high luminous efficacy can reduce the energy required for lighting. In addition, we use electricity from renewable sources in our own production, establishing a link to Target 7.2, which aims to substantially increase the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix by 2030.

Wellbeing of employees

8.5 By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value.

Circular economy

12.2 By 2030, achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources.
12.5 By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.

Climate policy

Our measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are related to SDG 13. Among other areas, we focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from our own operations.

13.2 Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning.

Reducing emissions

We focus on various areas to reduce the emissions associated with our business activities. This includes, in particular, reducing our Scope 1* and Scope 2** emissions. These measures are part of our goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.

* Scope 1 includes all direct greenhouse gas emissions, such as primary energy sources consumed directly on company premises, such as natural gas, heating oil, petrol or diesel.
** Scope 2 includes the indirect greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the generation of procured energy such as electricity or district heating.
*** Scope 3 includes other indirect greenhouse gas emissions that are primarily associated with the company's activities. Scope 3 CO2 emissions include, for example, the consumption of energy in rented assets (e.g. real estate, vehicles), the purchase of goods and services, waste disposal, water and wastewater, business trips and employee commuting.
