The Washington Harbour Conference and Office Center in Washington, D.C., is a space situated between the city and the water. The complex on the banks of the Potomac River was reimagined by the architects at sshape as a high-quality work environment that also offers a pleasant atmosphere for spending time.
The interior design draws inspiration from the river’s serene presence. Color, materiality, and spatial sequences capture its tranquil power and translate it into a multifaceted spatial structure. Open zones, quiet areas, and communal spaces are clearly defined and seamlessly interwoven through the use of light.
Here, light becomes a subtle structure. The recessed light lines from Liquid Line structure the ceiling surfaces and consistently and precisely follow the architectural axes. In accordance with its design brief, Liquid Line traces paths, defines spaces, and enhances orientation within the spatial layout. This creates a homogeneous, visually calm general lighting that makes materials and proportions clearly legible.
