Centre for Integrated Oncology University Hospital Cologne, Germany

Together against cancer - together for life: Every year, around 24,000 cancer patients are treated at Cologne University Hospital. They are all cared for in the Centre for Integrated Oncology - CIO for short, Germany's largest outpatient clinic for cancer patients. Since November 2019, all clinics and institutes involved in the diagnosis and treatment, but also in the research of tumour diseases, have been working together in an area of almost 14,000 square metres. In tumour conferences and special consultations, renowned experts from the various disciplines jointly coordinate diagnoses and therapy recommendations for and with patients.
The lighting concept designed by Dorette Faulhaber and Corinna Arens creates a harmonious balance between functional lighting for staff members on the one hand, and pleasant shapes and clear guidance through the premises for patients and visitors on the other. The Basic M4, for example, blends seamlessly into the ceiling and creates a pleasant ambience with its round shape, while the Matric M5 provides directional lighting in the corridors.
